Students Finally Graduate After Storms Delay Ceremonies

Ceremony Held On Sunday

UPDATED: 7:01 am CDT June 16, 2008

After four long years of high school, hundreds of Fond du Lac High School seniors had to wait a few more days before putting on their caps and gowns.

The ceremony was supposed to be held on Thursday but it was canceled when storms forced school officials to convert the school to an emergency shelter for 200 people.

Students collected their diplomas on Sunday in a ceremony marked by the spirit of resilience.

Joseph Bonincontri watched his daughter Rachel graduate. He said that with the worst of the storms behind them, every day is a day of sunshine now.

Rachel said that she was disappointed when the original ceremony was canceled, but Sunday's ceremony was just as meaningful, something she'll remember for the rest of her
