MATC Draws In Girls With Girl Tech 2008
Female Enrollment Down In IT Field

MADISON, Wis. -- Madison Area Technical College reaches out to girls this week hoping to interest them in a career in the information technology field.
VIDEO: Watch The ReportGirl Tech 2008 is drawing hundreds of area girls with activities and programs including using computers to program robots."We decided to go with girls, middle school aged, because they are just learning about technology and learning about options and we wanted to try get their minds at an impressionable age," said Girl Tech co-coordinator Nina Milbauer.Milbauer said this is the second year for Girl Tech, which runs through the end of the week.Organizers said the idea for the Girl Tech came about because of the declining number of women enrolled in technology fields.
