More than 60 restaurants and caterers participate in the annual event, which is the second biggest fundraiser for United Cerebral Palsy, an advocacy group that informs and helps people living with cerebral palsy or other disabilities.

Organizers estimated that about 150,000 people would attend the Taste of Madison over the two-day period.

Visitors at the event got the chance to sample more than 200 menu items at booths that lined the Capitol Square. Every food item was priced from $1 to $4.

There were also four stages with more than 35 live musical performances at this year's event.

On Sunday, the Milwaukee-area group 2nd Thought drew a large crowd. The band members are all between the ages of 13 and 15 years old. The band recently won a spot on Cartoon Network's "Props," where they got to record a single with Avril Lavigne's producer in California. Phil Stacy, an "American Idol" finalist on season six, also performed at this year's event.

Organizers said that the Taste of Madison has helped UCP raise about $250,000 in the past decade alone. The nonprofit provides volunteers to serve soda, water, beer and wine, and the tip money goes directly to benefit services provided through UCP.

"This is one of our, probably our second biggest fundraiser of the year for United Cerebral Palsy," said Peg Kramer of the UCP and a worker at the Taste of Madison. Her 20-year-old daughter, Kallie, was born with hydrocephalus, also known as "water on the brain."

"They taught us your child may have disabilities but they are also still a child. The UCP helped us to teach Kallie how to walk, how to talk, how to play, how to raise her," Kramer said.

Kramer said this weekend's Taste of Madison is not only a tremendous fundraiser for the organization but also for the many clients they serve.
