Local Girl Donates Birthday Money To Children's Hospital
Alexis Polkinghorn Toured Facility Wednesday

MADISON, Wis. -- A local girl got a very special guided tour of the American Family Children's Hospital on Wednesday.

She doesn't even know anyone who is.But while watching TV one night, she started to think about children who aren't as lucky as she is and came up with a way to help them. Alexis told her mother that she wanted to use her birthday money."I told her that I want to raise money for the children's hospital," Alexis said.The guests to Alexis's ninth birthday party on Sunday were asked to bring donations instead of gifts. About $300 will go for books and toys.Since last July, youth groups have raised nearly $50,000 for the children's hospital.
