Big Ten Network-Charter Announcement Causes Some To Change Marketing

Janesville Apartment Complex Carried Network

UPDATED: 6:38 pm CDT August 27, 2008

The Big Ten Network will soon be on Charter's extended basic cable and that announcement has some businesses changing their marketing.

Park Place Apartments in Janesville operates its own cable system, and offers channels not previously available on cable.

The apartments have been using the Big Ten Network to draw interest from prospective renters. It helped at first but no one expects business to drop now that the network is available on cable, WISC-TV reported.

"We have so many people coming in, it's been difficult to audit, frankly. It hasn't hurt us. And then we have NFL, so that's huge and very timely since it starts next week," said Steve Shaw with Park Place Apartments.

The apartment also carries the NFL Network, and will begin promoting that soon.
