Wisconsin Offers Emergency Management Assistance After Bridge Collapse

MADISON, Wis. -- Gov. Jim Doyle is offering Wisconsin's help to Minnesota in dealing with the fatal bridge collapse in Minneapolis on Wednesday.Emergency management officials have repeatedly been in touch with their counterparts in Minnesota to see if manpower or equipment is needed.Wisconsin Emergency Management spokeswoman Lori Getter said that the state has offered help from its specialized rescue and recovery teams. Getter said that Wisconsin's resources aren't yet needed.She said that Homeland Security officials contacted Wisconsin fairly quickly after the collapse to let state officials know the collapse wasn't a terrorist attack.The governor's office said that Wisconsin State Patrol troopers are stationed at the border near Hudson to coordinate additional assistance if any is needed.
