Police: 74-Year-Old Man Injured In Hit-And-Run

Suspect Taken Into Custody

UPDATED: 6:39 pm CDT August 13, 2007

A 74-year-old man was hurt late Sunday night in an apparent hit-and-run, Madison police said.

Madison police are investigating the incident, which occurred when the man was crossing North Sherman Avenue after the Madison Mallards baseball game. The victim was hit by an SUV driven by a 35-year-old woman, police said. The driver has been identified as Tammie Lynn Blizzard.

The man was taken to a local hospital and suffered life-threatening injuries, WISC-TV reported.

Police said that the driver fled the scene but was later taken into custody. Investigators said that they believe alcohol might be a factor in the crash, WISC-TV reported.

Blizzard is tentatively charged with causing great bodily harm and driving while intoxicated.
