MADISON, Wis. -- University of Wiscosnin Badger football fans are gearing up for one of the biggest games of the season when the team will take on Ohio State this Saturday.
VIDEO: Watch The ReportThe problem for fans without tickets is that the game is exclusively on the Big Ten Network. The channel is on Direct TV, Dish Network and satellite, but not on local cable provider Charter Cable. So fans with cable will be forced to watch the game elsewhere, WISC-TV reported. One place to catch the action is the UW Memorial Union."I'm a big football fan and I love to watch my games," said UW senior Tiffany Schreiber. "I'm a little upset with that.""I just don't understand how they have a game with such large conference implications and like it's not on a channel that we can find," said UW senior Steve Mack.TVs at the Rathskeller carry the Big Ten Network, but hundreds of thousands of cable customers will go without. The Big Ten Network wants to be in Charter's expanded cable lineup. Charter, however, wants to place the network in its pricier sports tier option package. Neither side is backing down, but UW athletic officials said they're hopeful that will change."In the meantime, go to a restaurant, sit around, a lot of places are going to have it," said Badger football coach Bret Bielema. "Maybe get a burger and some cheese curds, maybe a refreshment. Grab a friend, wear some red and support the Badgers.""It's all the better for us," said Kelly Dallman, the manager of Lucky's Bar and Grill.Bar owners said this is where it pays to have a service with the Big Ten Network.Dallman said preparations have already begun for Saturday's game."We put on extra staff this morning and made sure our orders were all bumped up," said Dallman. "A year ago, the Michigan game was probably our best. It was comparable to a non-conference home game. That's what we are expecting for the Ohio State game.""It's a different atmosphere than just being able to watch it at your house," said Schreiber. "If you want to, you should be able to."
