Ribbons Remind Public To Watch For Emerald Ash Borer

Firewood Isn't Allowed To Be Brought Into Campsites

UPDATED: 11:36 am CDT May 20, 2008

This week is Ash Borer Awareness Week.

The dangerous insect hasn't been seen in Wisconsin yet, but it has killed ash trees as far north as Illinois.

Ribbons are being placed on trees in hopes of raising awareness about the threat, WISC-TV reported.

The insect primarily gets around through infested wood.

Many campsites aren't allowing any firewood to come from another state.
