Volunteer Center Set Up At Baraboo Middle School

BARABOO, Wis. -- Sauk County is expecting 3 or 4 inches of rain on Thursday, and to prepare for more flooding, residents are conducting extra sandbagging Thursday.Sauk County Emergency Management is also urging people to stay away from flood waters, which could be contaminated.So far, water is going down in Reedsburg, Lavalle and Rock Springs.But with more rain expected, the county is setting up a center for volunteers on Friday at the Baraboo Middle School. Sandbagging shifts will continue through the weekend."People have lost their houses, lost personal property. Things are just starting to get back and now we have the possibility of getting additional rains. From a mental health side, it's tragic," said Jeff Jelinek, director of Sauk County Emergency Management.Emergency management officials said that dams at Lake Redstone and Mirror Lake are safe.People who need volunteer help or who want to report damage can call 608-355-3200.
