Construction Work On Beltline To Begin This Weekend

$5 Million Project Will Start Sunday Night

UPDATED: 9:43 am CDT August 7, 2008

Overnight construction work on the Beltline is set to begin this Sunday.

Construction work will stretch from Gammon Road to Old Sauk during the overnight hours.

The project is designed to alleviate traffic backups onto the Beltline, by adding lanes to the off ramps. It will also include repaving that stretch of the Beltline, WISC-TV reported.

"The restrictions are from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning so I would just caution people to drive a little more carefully and maybe a little bit slower during those hours because there will be workers out there," said project manager Gary Sassman. "It will be open to traffic but there will be narrow lanes."

Preparations on the $5 million project are under way. Overnight construction will begin Sunday night and won't end until late October.
