Movers will have access to construction zones along the lower half of State Street.

Vehicles should enter State Street from Lake Street and exit by turning left onto West Gilman.

All construction work will cease along the 500 and 600 blocks of State Street for the next three days.

Vehicles will be allowed passage on State Street starting at 6 a.m. Thursday. Cars can only park while actively loading and unloading.

The city hopes residents exhibit patience through the expected congestion, and keep safety a priority.

"Being patient, being careful of what you're doing. Safeguarding your belongings, not leaving your belongings unguarded or alone or unlocked while you're down here. It only takes a couple of seconds and something important to you can be gone," said Linda Covert, a Madison neighborhood police officer.

Access to State Street will be available until 6 a.m. Saturday.
