Wright Faces First Degree Intentional Homicide Charge

MADISON, Wis. -- A Madison man will stand trial on a charge of killing his longtime girlfriend.Dane County Circuit Court Judge Sarah O'Brien ordered Daniel Wright on Tuesday to stand trial in the death of Cassandra Mays after a preliminary hearing.The 50-year-old Wright is accused of first-degree intentional homicide for the July 15 killing of Mays.The 45-year-old woman was his girlfriend of five years but they were in the process of breaking up.Wright did not speak Tuesday as a not guilty plea was entered in his behalf.Authorities said Wright stabbed Mays repeatedly with a knife during an argument a week after a witness said she heard Wright tell Mays he would kill her.
