Badger Road Stabbing Suspect Bound Over For Trial

Wright Faces First Degree Intentional Homicide Charge

UPDATED: 7:26 am CDT August 27, 2008

A Madison man will stand trial on a charge of killing his longtime girlfriend.

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Sarah O'Brien ordered Daniel Wright on Tuesday to stand trial in the death of Cassandra Mays after a preliminary hearing.

The 50-year-old Wright is accused of first-degree intentional homicide for the July 15 killing of Mays.

The 45-year-old woman was his girlfriend of five years but they were in the process of breaking up.

Wright did not speak Tuesday as a not guilty plea was entered in his behalf.

Authorities said Wright stabbed Mays repeatedly with a knife during an argument a week after a witness said she heard Wright tell Mays he would kill her.
