Police Searching For Home Break-In Suspect

Burglary Occurred Tuesday Morning

UPDATED: 10:05 pm CDT August 26, 2008

The Madison Police Department responded to the home burglary on the 3200 block of Sunbrook Road early Tuesday morning..

Officers arrived shortly after 1:30 a.m. to search for the suspect.

An 18-year-old female victim was in the kitchen area of her residence when she heard what sounded like someone moving quietly around the house.

She confronted an unknown male in the hallway of the residence wearing dark clothing.

After demanding he leave the house, she returned to the kitchen to get a pair of scissors for protection.

The suspect then ran past the victim, down the stairs and into the garage.

According to a police incident report, as other family members were awakened by the commotion, the suspect proceeded to break out a garage window, and escaped the residence.

A window screen was located on the home that had been cut, and this possibly allowed access to the suspect through this initial entry point, according to the incident report.

Police said that they do not have a motive for the break-in.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 130- 140 pounds and last seen wearing dark clothing

Any person with information about this or any other crime should contact the Madison Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 266-601.
