Name Of Man Pulled From Lake Monona Released

Jensen's Body Found Near BB Clarke Beach

UPDATED: 6:45 pm CDT August 29, 2008

The Dane County Coroner's Office has identified the body pulled out of Lake Monona Thursday as Eric J. Jensen.

Lt. Steve Gilmore, of the Dane County Sheriff's Department, said that Jensen's body was pulled from the lake around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The body was found in the area off Spaight Street, near BB Clarke Beach.

Gilmore said that Jensen's body was found by the boat patrol when it was doing its daily sweeps. The boat patrol had been conducting daily searches, both morning and evening, since Jensen had been reported missing on Aug. 17. Authorities said that Jensen, 40, of Cottage Grove, disappeared after boating with friends.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday, and preliminary indications of cause of death are consistent with drowning, according to a Dane County Sheriff's Department news release. Sheriff's officials said there were no signs of trauma, and toxicology test results are pending.
