POSTED: 12:36 pm CDT September 4, 2008

Madison Gas & Electric said a problem at an area substation caused a power outage for parts of Madison Thursday morning.

MG&E spokesman Steve Kraus said a problem at a substation on Walnut Street knocked out power, but he wasn't yet sure how many people were affected.

The power went out around 10 a.m. in the area of Segoe Road and Hilldale and was restored at 11:10 a.m. Thursday.
