Web Site Allows Users To Track, Reduce Carbon Footprint

Web Tool Launched Thursday

POSTED: 9:35 pm CST November 20, 2008

After being revamped, the new Sequoya library on Midvale Boulevard opened Thursday and hosted the launch of a new Web tool for a cleaner Wisconsin.

Co2gether.org is a unique Web site designed by Madison Gas and Electric, University of Wisconsin-Madison's SAGE program and 1,000 Friends of Wisconsin.

The Web site allows residents to track, manage and reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide over time.

"They'll be able to take their gas and electricity use, along with their transportation use, and see where they fall as far as a footprint, but then be able to do things to actually reduce it if they wish," said Steve Kraus, spokesman for Madison Gas and Electric.

Residents can also share information about their carbon footprint and give advice to others through the site's discussion boards.
