LA CROSSE, Wis. -- A national nonprofit that aids the families of deployed and wounded service members has opened a headquarters for Wisconsin.Operation Homefront opened its state headquarters in Tomah.Operation Homefront State Chapter President Al Boothby said it's an ideal location for military support because of its strong volunteer base. It's also close to Camp Douglas, Fort McCoy and Volk Field.Michael Yountz, a member of the Tomah National Guard, said the hardest thing on a soldier or Marine is how it affects his or her family and Operation Homefront supports those families.Operation Homefront provides emergency assistance and morale to troops and their families.
