Robson Asks Doyle To Include Smoking Ban In Budget
Doyle To Introduce Budget Proposal Early Next Year
POSTED: 11:22 am CST November 29,

MADISON, Wis. -- Sen. Judy Robson is asking Gov. Jim Doyle to include a statewide smoking ban in his budget next year. The Beloit Democrat said the measure should be included in the budget because of an urgent need to protect citizens from second-hand smoke and to reduce costs associated with smoking-related diseases. Some lawmakers do not like to include policy items such as the smoking ban in the budget, but Robson said the ban is no different than other major initiatives such as SeniorCare that have been attached to budgets in the past.Doyle will introduce his budget proposal early next year. He has repeatedly called for a statewide smoking ban but has not in the past included the proposal in his budget.
