MADISON, Wis. -- The state's gun-deer season closed on Sunday, but deer hunting isn't over in Wisconsin.The state's 10-day muzzleloader season opens on Monday. The state Department of Natural Resources said the muzzleloader season offers a more relaxed, less crowded atmosphere.Blaze orange garb is still required. DNR weapons safety instructors caution hunters to keep their powder dry and avoid misfires -- where powder doesn't ignite -- or hangfires -- where there is a delay in the discharge.Muzzleloader hunters took 10,400 deer last year.The day after the muzzleloader season wraps up on Dec. 10, a four-day statewide antlerless hunt begins.
