Taylor Accused Of Threatening UW Athletic Director

MADISON, Wis. -- A former University of Wisconsin football player has been ordered to undergo a mental competency exam after being accused of making threats against athletic director Barry Alvarez.
VIDEO: Watch The ReportLeonard Taylor Jr., 32, was extradited from his home in Indianapolis, and he appeared Thursday in Dane County Circuit Court on charges of stalking and telephone harassment.A criminal complaint said Taylor made threatening calls directed at Alvarez, his former coach but now the school's athletic director. Taylor played for the Badgers from 1995 to 1998.The criminal complaint said that Taylor left multiple "bizarre" messages on Alvarez's work voicemail in September. Police told him to stop, but last week he left more than 20 messages laced with profanity threatening Alvarez.A judge set bail for Taylor at $5,000. Taylor was ordered not to have any contact with Alvarez.A criminal complaint said his father told police Taylor was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and hadn't taken his medication for three months.
