MADISON, Wis. -- More than a week after Rhythm and Booms trash on the lawn at Warner Park remains a problem.Walking along the northeast side of the east-side park, you can see casings from aerial shells strewn around the lawn.Chunks of cardboard lie scattered among the grass clippings. Park officials say this type of debris is normal after fireworks."I'm surprised there is a lot of concern because walking it, it doesn't seem more than past years. The wind is different, but in terms of the amount in the park pretty typically of a show that size," said Jim Morgan, superintendent of city parks.Residents say they want it cleaned up."They've made a mess, and they haven't cleaned it up but the wind blew it the other way -- 90 percent of it usually accumulates in the park," said Don Johnston, who lives across from Warner.Morgan said the rain delay decreased volunteer turnout this year.Park officials plan to meet Thursday to deal with the issue of cleaning up. They said the leftover cardboard won't have a negative effect on the environment because it will deteriorate.
