Rhythm & Booms features "world class" fireworks, choreographed to music broadcast on WOLX 94.9 FM, beginning at 9:30 p.m.Organizers encourage people to bring radios to the park, for live announcements throughout the day as well as the music soundtrack that accompanies the fireworks display. The free event will feature music from Lord of the Dance, and Broadway classics Evita and Miss Saigon. This year, the oldies section will feature songs recalling hits from the 1980s, organizers said.“We have an incredible finish of patriotic music planned as well, including the 1812 Overture, and the Fireworks Spectacular has all new effects to delight us all this year," said Terry Kelly, president of the Madison Fireworks Fund, Inc., which produces the annual event. In celebration of Madison’s 150th birthday in 2006, Rhythm & Booms and Madison Gas & Electric are hosting “Sesquicentennial Park," in recognition of the city’s diversity and the numerous immigrant groups who settled in Madison beginning in 1856.Sesquicentennial Park is located at the corner of Troy Drive and Northport Drive, at the northwest corner of Warner Park, and will feature multi-cultural performances beginning at noon, as well as Italian, Mexican, and a variety of other great ethnic foods.
