Nugent Injures Thigh

POSTED: 4:52 pm CDT September 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - New York Jets kicker Mike Nugent suffered a thigh injury during Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Nugent appeared to hurt himself on a short kickoff in the first quarter, then missed badly attempting a 32-yard field goal later in the period and did not return until the second half.

The injury had a direct impact for the Jets.

Facing 4th-and-13 from the Miami 22-yard line, the Jets opted against a field goal and Brett Favre's heave under pressure found the hands of Chansi Stuckey at the goal line for a touchdown. Without Nugent, the Jets decided to try for two points and Favre's pass into the end zone fell incomplete.

Nugent kicked an extra point and had a short kickoff on his lone appearances in the second half.
