GREEN BAY, Wis. -- On Monday it seemed as though Brett Favre fans would get their wish and he would return to the Green Bay Packers but that is now starting to look more unlikely and could be impossible.
VIDEO: Fans React To Latest Favre Developments"We came to see Brett hopefully," said Chelsea Menard, who was attending Packers training camp Tuesday. "I don't see anything so far. Nothing yet, a lot of people here today"Most fans who stood under the hot summer sun hoping to see Favre pass by don't understand the holdup and to them, this is not a hard decision, WISC-TV reported."I would start Brett Favre opening day against Minnesota, hands down," said Randy Marquardt. "You want to go to the Super Bowl , you're not going do it with Aaron Rodgers, I hate to say it but he's got to wait his turn again."Others stood in enemy territory to do some recruiting."I grew up a Vikings fan, all my friends are Vikings fan, so I thought I'd come over here and say, hey we'll take a three-time MVP, we need a quarterback," said Joe Woldt.Rodgers took the practice field Tuesday, but never walked the gauntlet of fans, WISC-TV reported."I understand his point of view, it would probably take a lot to come out here," said Menard."I was hoping to see him out here, but if he isn't," said Marquardt. "It don't matter, once a Favre fan, always a Favre fan. Just want to see him here opening day ."Said Menard, "It's how he plays the game, he's different than the average NFL player I think, seems to have more fun."And while the practice field and stadium was lined with people wanting to see Favre play in a packer's jersey this season, some fans want to see Rodgers in the spotlight."I wouldn't even let him see the playbook," said Richard Kane. "He's not bigger than the Green Bay Packers, I've been a Brett Favre fan my whole life, but he's not bigger than the Green Bay Packers.""Maybe one of the best quarterbacks that ever has been but I believe his ego has gotten the better of him and I think he should retire while he's ahead," said Colin McGee.
