UPDATED: 12:18 am CDT September 7, 2008

The No. 11-ranked University of Wisconsin football squad came from 14 points down to score 51 unanswered points and crush Marshall, 51-14, on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium.

The opening kickoff got under way just after 11 a.m. and both teams got off to a slow start.

Marshall put itself up 7-0 over the Badgers with 4:08 left in the first quarter.

The first quarter ended with the Thundering Herd holding a 7-0 lead over the Badgers on their home field.

The second quarter opened with Marshall again finding the end zone to post a 14-0 lead over UW at 13:34. Darius Marshall was able to sneak through the Badger defense and the Thundering Herd's kicker made good on his attempt. Marshall made 10 plays and went 58 yards on the drive to score.

The Badgers responded with seven plays for a 60-yard drive and P.J. Hill made a 2-yard carry into the end zone to get UW on the scoreboard at 10:16 in the second quarter. UW made good on its extra point attempt to make it a 14-7 contest in favor of the Thundering Herd.

At 7:36 in the second quarter Marshall took a timeout.

With 4:54 to go before halftime, UW kicker Philip Welch sent the ball sailing through the goal posts on a 45-yard kick attempt to make it a 14-10 contest.

Zach Brown made a 3-yard carry with 36 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Badgers their first lead of the game -- 17-14 -- and Welch made good on his extra point attempt.

Wisconsin made three plays for 22 yards and Hill scored on a 1-yard carry at the 13:02 mark of the third quarter to put the home team ahead 24-14.

With 9:45 on the clock in the third quarter, UW rushed the ball into the end zone and converted on a field goal attempt to take a 31-14 lead over the Thundering Herd.

The Badgers continued to dominate the game when they scored at 1:04 of the third quarter to make it a 38-14 UW lead. After making good on the field goal attempt, Wisconsin has scored 38 unanswered points in the game.

Wisconsin extended the lead when the Badgers scored a touchdown at 7:57 in the fourth quarter to go up 44-14. UW's kick was blocked, the first time that has happened this season.

UW carried the ball into the end zone and the Badgers scored on their field goal attempt to make it a 51-14 game with 4:49 left on the clock in the game. Wisconsin scored 51 unanswered points.

The Badgers improved their home win streak to 16-games, which is the second-longest in the country behind Oklahoma with 18.

UW has now won 18 consecutive regular-season games against non-conference teams.

Saturday's game was the first between the two schools, and only the sixth game against a Conference USA team for the Badgers (6-0 all-time vs. C-USA).

Wisconsin scored 50 points for the first time since getting 52 vs. Indiana in 2006.

After starting 0-for-4, Badger quarterback Allan Evridge completed 17 of his last 22 passes for 308 yards with one touchdown.

UW had six rushing touchdowns for the first time since picking up seven versus Bowling Green in 2005.
